Custom Rubber Corp., together with Preferred Rubber Compounding, developed a unique blend of urethane and photo-luminescent pigments to create a moldable material that glows in the dark. The material has excellent abrasion resistance and is approximately 70-80 durometer on a Shore A scale. The sample pictured is a doorstop, but the material could be molded into any shape, and could be bonded to a metal or plastic insert if required.
The level of photoluminescence depends on how heavily the compound is loaded with the pigment, but initial trials suggest that the glow slowly dissipates but is strong for about 4 hours with even trace amounts of "glow" still remaining after 6-7 hours. The application potential for this material has not yet been fully tested.
If you have a part that's function may be enhanced if it glowed in the dark, contact Custom Rubber Corp.
