Rubber Topped Bolt
For the parts pictured here, a hexagonal molded rubber bumper is formed around the head of the metal bolt insert, allowing for turning with a standard wrench. The bolt head is a special design that is circular, but has a number of aggressive notches stamped into the outer diameter. This insures that the rubber cushion does not spin without spinning the entire bolt - without adhesive.
Molding pressure keeps the metal bolt insert in place as rubber is injected into the mold and the mold is designed to insure no rubber gets to the threads of the bolt.
Rubber Bonding Experts
When bonding rubber to metal, mechanical encapsulation can be a very cost effective way to bond the rubber to the metal insert. Mechanical encapsulation eliminates the need for specialty adhesives and makes it easier to retrieve the metal insert for reuse in case of a fallout. Let Custom Rubber Corp. help you determine the best way for you to bond metal to rubber.
