The rubber molded bellows pictured here is relatively small (approximately 2.5" tall) and has a very thin wall. The thin wall allows for very easy articulation out and back that adds very little resistance when flexed. In this particular case, the rubber convoluted protector is only attached on one end - the larger opening - with a clamp that fits between the bottom bead and the first convolute. The top end with the small hole, is perfectly sized for the wire that protudes through.
The gently curved nature of the convolutes on this part allow for the flex required and work in this application becuase there is no need for the bellows to completely collapse. When the distance of travel is minimal, rounded convoutes are easier to manufacture and the tooling is also slightly less expensive.
