The rubber molded diaphragm pictured here is tapered - thicker in the middle (0.118") and a bit thinner towards the edges (0.080"). In application, the rubber diaphragm is perforated and air is forced through to create small bubbles, aerating the wastewater. The tapered thickness allows the diaphragm to flex in concentric circles which makes all the slits and all the bubbles as close to the same size as possible.
This particular molded rubber diaphragm is held in place by a plastic housing and a mating plastic ring nut. The rubber diaphragm has a sealing bead around the OD that makes for an air-tight seal, forcing all the air flow to go through the small slits and exit as small bubbles.
Custom Rubber Corp. manufactures a large variety of these types of molded rubber diaphragms, in a number of different materials. Contact us today to discuss your molded diaphragm needs.
