Sealing Presurized Propane
When pressurized propane is used, the seal has to be good. The small conical shaped rubber molded seal pictured here is used on a device that pumps propane into the tunnels of burrowing rodents. The rubber seal is critical in ensuring that the propane doesn't leak out near the operator and instead stays in the burrows.
Custom Rubber Corp. assisted the customer in designing the right interference fit for the rubber molded seal. In order to get a good seal, the rubber part has to be designed in such a way that there is some overlap in stack-up tolerance between the mating parts. How much is enough is something that Custom Rubber Corp. has the experience to determine.
