The molded rubber product pictured here uses a cost-effective, one-piece, integrated design to achieve multiple objectives. The molded rubber part includes a dust cover, a lanyard, the female sealing ring for the dust cover, and a secure attachment ring - all in one part. The molded rubber part also includes a small thru-hole in both the dust cover and the lanyard attachment so that the cover can be secured in place.
Because of the flexibility of rubber as a material, making "living hinges" is a very common practice and the integrity of the rubber material stays constant over time, even when flexed regularly during use.
