One of the oldest and most successful coating thickness gage manufacturers approached Custom Rubber Corp. to work with them on designing a protective molded silicone rubber cover for the plastic enclosure used on their most popular gage.
Pictured here is the first iteration of the protective case that features some gentle ridges along the back side to enhance grip. The case also has an innovative pocket to accept a standard, off-the-shelf belt clip - a cost effective way to add this feature to a custom rubber protective case. Lastly, the molded silicone case has two extended bumpers at the bottom that are designed to protect the various probe attachments.
Overall, the design was so successful, the company decided to move to a second iteration and consolidate their entire product line within one plastic enclosure and one silicone rubber protective case. You can see version 2 of the product here:
