An acoustic guitar player came to Custom Rubber Corp. with an idea for a Harmonic Capo (a device that is placed over the strings of a classical guitar that changes the harmonics of the instrument and opens up the door for all sorts of new sounds).
The first challenge was developing a rubber material that was soft enough to create the harmonic tines desired. Custom Rubber Corp. worked with a number of our strategic partners to develop a 15 durometer material—dense rubber that is as soft as a firm sponge but will last significantly longer—that was perfect for the application.
The other challenge was perfecting the size and shape of the molded rubber pads so they would fit in the holder tightly but still be able to be adjusted up and down slightly.
In the end, the product has been a great success. Read a review published in Vintage Guitar Magazine (354K PDF).
