Complex Geometry and 100% Verification
Custom Rubber Corp. was selected by a leading electronics company to manufacture the small, complex part pictured here. The entire part is less than an inch long. The base has an undercut on the ID that is designed to fit around a mating part on the printed circuit board. The ID hole on the base transitions to a smaller ID hole that runs the length of the arm to connect to the plastic fitting on the carrier. The product is designed to transmit exhaust from the engine to the circuit board, which then monitors and adjusts the fuel-air mixture to maximize fuel economy.
Every part producted by Custom Rubber Corp. is 100% tested using a custom-designed rotating test fixture that insures the air channel is clear all the way from the base to the end of the arm - no restrictions from rubber flash are permissible.
Once in production, Custom Rubber Corp. and the customer worked closely together to make continuous improvements in the production and ultimately came close to eliminating all defects.
