Molded Rubber Instrument Cover
Designed to tightly fit over the top of a thermocouple thermometer, this bright yellow rubber protective boot or cover cradles the instrument, providing shock resistance when dropped. The rubber cover also integrates a hole for a lanyard (shown on the right side of the photo), some slots in the back to add an alternate hand strap that holds the thermocouple thermometer while it's gripped, and a thru-hole with a countersink (shown on the back, left side of the part) that can be used to hang the thermocouple thermometer on a wall.
The design leaves the front display exposed, but has raised rubber edges to protect the display when dropped. The probe attachment point is also exposed allowing very easy switching of thermocouple probes. Finally, the rubber cover incorporates a series of rubber fingers (shown at the top of the parts pictured) that are designed to hold the thermocouple when not in use.
This protective rubber cover illustrates many of the features that a rubber cover can add to an electronics device - above and beyond providing shock resistance when dropped.
