Although the parts pictured here look like they would be a standard molded grommet, our Tier1 Automotive supplier needed a few special things;
- High temperature silicone rubber. The custom silicone grommet is used in an engine cover application where temperatures can easily reach 400+ degrees F. The molded silicone rubber is specially formulated to peform in these conditions.
- A bright orange color. The end customer wanted a bright orange colored silicone to make it easier to verify this critical component was in place and assembled correctly. Most of the other components in the assembly are black and the bright orange silicone makes it easier to confirm. Additionally, the customer sells an EPDM version of the same custom grommet for a different application and it is important that the two materials do not get intermixed.
- Specific engraving. The face of the part includes specific engraving for the material type and the part number. This is becoming a standard requiremetn for end of life vehicle recylcing and Custom Rubber Corp. makes engraving anything on any part possible.
Although Custom Rubber Corp. does not work exclusively with the automotive industry, we do have a number of important Tier2 customers and we are very capable of handling the quality and administrative expectations that the industry brings.
