The October issue of Rubber and Plastics News has a two page article discussing Custom Rubber Corp.'s approach to manufacturing employment and some technological investments the company has made. The entire article is available here:
CRC Article (pdf version can be downloaded here:

The four main points in the tour and in the article are:
- Custom Rubber Corp. is working to bring back vocational training, with the ultimate goal of creating "Raider Manufacturing" in Shaker Heights - a student-run manufacturing business similar to Cardinal Manufacturing. This is a long-term objective considering Shaker Heights High School currently offers minimal hands-on manufacturing-related curriculum.
- In the short term, Custom Rubber Corp. has formed a coalition of other manufacturing companies in the nearby area and all companies involved have committed to hosting one plant tour a month for High School students. These tours are a way for local manufacturers to share with young people how exciting manufacturing can be and the great careers that are available in manufacturing.
- Custom Rubber Corp. is growing and has moved to a 24x7 operation. The article discusses some of the reasons and challenges involved with this change.
- Custom Rubber Corp. has introduced automated vision systems both for part inspection and for mold damage prevention. The article discusses the details of these systems and the benefits.
