A leading manufacturer of HVAC equipment contacted Custom Rubber Corp. to manufacture a new style rubber grommet or mount for a small condenser motor. Along with the quotation, which was submitted within 48 hours of receiving the inquiry, Custom Rubber Corp. offered design assistance that could possibly reduce the overall cost of the rubber component.
The customer agreed to share information on the mating parts and the required functionality, and after a few conference calls, Custom Rubber Corp. suggested a few changes. The changes reduced the overall costs (between tooling and piece price) by approximately 15%.
After prototyping the part to insure that the design changes didn't adversely affect the functionality, the part was approved.
