An ultra-high end maker of men's shaving razors and brushes wanted to add a soft-touch custom black and blue rubber razor handle to their existing line of exotic wood, ivory and silver razor and brush handles. They came to Custom Rubber Corp. for a solution.
We recommended silicone rubber to achieve the non-marking, clean finish, and soft touch required to meet the customer's demanding needs. After receiving samples of other consumer products produced from a similar material, the customer agreed that silicone rubber was the right choice.
The job required a precision mold with intricate texturing and the incorporation of a threaded brass metal insert for added stiffness. We also prototyped a number of different configurations of the brass insert to optimize the mechanical lock between the silicone rubber and brass. This reduced the part cost and eliminated the potential for cosmetic adhesive contamination. The customer's demanding cosmetic requirements showcase our excellence in cosmetic manufacturing.
