On September 26, 2018, Custom Rubber Corp. hosted a tour of High School students from Warrensville Heights High School. The students are in an Engineering and STEM class. The students learned a bit about what makes manufacturing in general exciting and also some specifics about molding rubber.
At the end of the tour, the students were given a project to assist Custom Rubber Corp. in the creation of a new 5S organization and storage board for the area where replacement air lines are made. The current work space is unorganized, cluttered, and as a result, making replacement air lines (necessary for demolding parts) can be time consuming.
The class was given the available dimensions, samples of all the components, spare parts, and tools that have to be organized, and a Grainger catalog with the pages marked for organizational bins, etc.. Custom Rubber Corp. will provide all the necessary materials.
The project ties directly into discussions the class is already having about safety and the importance of keeping tools and supplies organized.
Custom Rubber Corp. is looking forward to seeing the 5S board from Warrensville High School.
