Custom Rubber Corp. makes significant investment in 2017 to upgrade equipment and add capacity.
Custom Rubber Corp. took delivery of three new injection molding presses in 2017. All three are state-of-the-art DESMA injection molding presses, manufactured in Germany with the latest control systems. One press is a 500 ton machine with 26" x 31" platens which will replace two aging machines of a similar size. The new machine offers a significant improvement in dependability which is critical to meeting Custom Rubber Corp.'s mission: Responsiveness ~ From Design to Delivery. It also has state of the art controls that allow for micro adjustments and complicated cycle/press movements in order to maximize throughput for any product.
The two other machines are 750 ton presses with 32" x 40" platens. These machines are additional capacity to support the growth of customers. Custom Rubber Corp. has a history of making machinery investments when customer growth opportunities arise. According to Charlie Braun, President of Custom Rubber Corp., "As a critical supplier to many of our customers, we have to be ready to invest in additional equipment to support our customers - we are committed to do this whenever necessary."
In addition to the three new injection molding machines, Custom Rubber Corp. also invested in a vision inspection system with a bowl feeder and a magnetic conveyor belt to automatically inspect high-volume parts. The system has two cameras and can inspect both sides of parts if necessary. As Custom Rubber Corp. gains more experience with the system, it should guarantee that customers receive only good parts - and it should improve lead times which again moves towards the mission of Responsiveness.
