For the third time in 12 months, Custom Rubber Corp. has raised starting wages for machine operators. The starting wage is now $11 with an increase to $12 after 60 days. The 30 percent increase in less than 12 months is necessary to ensure that Custom Rubber Corp. attracts and retains the machine operators required to match new business growth.
According to President Charlie Braun, “We have significant growth opportunities and we have the machinery in place. We need to be sure we have enough dedicated and committed employees to take advantage of these new opportunities. Without employees, we will not be able to deliver on our Mission: Responsiveness ~ From Design To Delivery.”
Machine operators at Custom Rubber Corp. are responsible for running molding presses. In some cases an operator may run one machine, but sometimes they are responsible for running two machines, or they may work together with another operator and two operators run three machines. Success at Custom Rubber requires the ability and willingness to step up and assist fellow employees with their work as some machines require more operator involvement than others.
Custom Rubber Corp. is committed to ensuring that our employees have a safe and friendly work environment with positive, open communication. Every day there are shift meetings in which the previous day's performance is reviewed and any new information is shared with all employees. Additionally, each month a few employees have a one-hour lunch break with the President, Charlie Braun, where they can ask questions about anything that's on their mind. Tracy Mack in Human Resources is also available for all shifts to answer questions and address concerns.
In addition to increasing the starting wages, Custom Rubber Corp. is starting an annual bonus based on years of service. On every work anniversary, starting on the fifth, employees will receive a bonus based on their years of service. From 5 to 9 years, the bonus is $50 per year. From 10-19 years, the bonus is $75 per year (which is $1,125 on someone's 15 year Anniversary). For every year 20 and after, the bonus is $100 per year of service.
Custom Rubber Corp. recognizes the necessity of increasing starting wages to attract new employees but we also recognize the importance of our long-term tenured employees. The Years of Service bonus is a way to offer special recognition as well as financially reward the people who have made Custom Rubber Corp. what it is today.
